Using categories allows you to view reports, view items and set common attributes for multiple stock items at once in a convenient fashion.

Within Service Manager there are two types of categories, Main Categories and Sub Categories. Every stock item is then assigned a sub category.

 

For example, you have a main category of "Towels" which has two sub categories of "Hand Towel" and "Roller Towel". As a roller towel takes longer to service than a hand towel you would want that to be reflected on the cost calculations but you don't want to go through every roller towel stock item to update it. Therefore, you would just enter the exchange time on the Roller Towel sub category.

Consumable Costs A breakdown of every stock item in this sub category, detailing the number of services per year for each stock item and the costs associated with performing those services. How to: View Sub Category Costs
